CRF logoCooperative Research Farms (CRF) Equine Nutrition Research Program

The goal of the CRF Equine Nutrition Research Program is to improve the performance and health of the horse, economics and overall experience of horse ownership. This will be accomplished by conducting specific research studies and transferring the knowledge and economic advantages to our customers. 

The CRF Equine Research Team is comprised of experienced nutritionists and researchers from international member companies.

The Equine Research Team has identified specific types of horses in which to conduct research.
    

     Some areas of research to be pursued are:

                1.    NUTRITIONAL EFFECTS IN HORSES WITH METABOLIC DISEASES SUCH AS:
                               
                                a.    Obesity

                                b.    Equine Metabolic Syndrome/Insulin Resistance

                                c.    Cushing’s Syndrome

                                d.    Glucose and Insulin Responses to Dietary Sugar and Starch Levels
                                                                   
                2.    IMPROVING ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE THROUGH NUTRITION.
                3.    THE IMPORTANCE OF DIETARY FATTY ACIDS IN HORSES.
                4.    IMPROVING LACTATION and BREEDING PERFORMANCE THROUGH NUTRITION.
                5.    IDENTIFYING THE EFFECTS OF PROTEIN QUALITY ON EQUINE HEALTH and PERFORMANCE.
